How long have you been with Eastern Sirens?

I've been a member for 2.5 years now - how time flies when you're having fun!

Why did you join and what do you like about artistic swimming?

I've been swimming my whole life and am an absolute water baby at heart. When referring to me, my partner will say 'just add water'. I was looking for another challenge and had always loved watching synchronised (now artistic) swimming at the Olympics, but thought the possibility of my body being able to do that was out of the question. However, the thought never really went away and a few years ago I searched clubs in Victoria and found that Eastern Sirens trained 10 minutes from home - so thought, why not?! I immediately felt at home and the rest is history!

What has your journey been like so far? Have there been any challenges?

It's been a whirlwind of learning, challenging my body and meeting incredible people. The mix of the three is what I love the most about this sport.

Although I'm comfortable in the water, I've learned so much about the way I'm able to move in the water, the importance of flexibility (especially as we age), strength, the ability to be graceful yet powerful, counting (who would have thought it could be so confusing!) and learning routines. You can feel different every time you get in the water and I love that.

To date I've competed at States and Nationals which were both great learning curves and I've been focused on improving the Masters figures too. I love the challenge of continued improvement.

And, lastly, I feel like I've found my people... like-minded, talented and funny team mates who will be my lifelong friends.

What are your goals/what are you looking forward to at the Masters World Championships?

I enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone (although I do often question my life choices!) and in turn, growing and evolving as a person.

My goals are to do the splits by the end of this year, to return to Nationals next year to win a team gold medal and to participate in the Masters World Championships next year.

After that, I have no doubt I'll have another crazy idea to aim for!

At the end of the day, I feel so incredibly fortunate to be healthy, active and surrounded by life-loving team mates and coaches, participating in an awesome sport.
