About

Established in 2015, Eastern Sirens is a not-for-profit organisation that is truly embedded in our local community. Our club cater for members located primarily in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs.

We take pride in nurturing the talents and passion of our young athletes, instilling discipline, teamwork, strong work ethic and giving back to the community. Our inclusive environment provides opportunities to participate for children and people of all genders.

Our club was the first in Victoria to run classes for adults and we plan to continue that trend as a visionary in the synchronised swimming space. We cater for young athletes that are beginning their sporting journey to adults who want to keep fit through to our highly successful National and Masters athletes and teams that represent our club and local community at various competitions and events.

Ruby Arter, Prateeti Sabhlok and Barbara Schembri (Artistic Swimming Victoria life member) founded the club after identifying a need in the community.

Our values

  • Being able to participate in artistic swimming and feel challenged each week

  • Learning how to work with a team and reach goals

  • Having the opportunity to swim a routine and perform once a year

  • Building the athletic capabilities of our members in stamina, strength and flexibility

  • Focusing on excellent execution of basic artistic swimming skills

  • Building the profile of artistic swimming in Victoria as a fun, community sport for a broad range of people

  • Providing extra training opportunities when possible for swimmers with high performance aspirations

  • Equipping members with the knowledge to be active for life

Committee structure

We are a board governed club. All board members are volunteers.

The board makes decisions in the best long-term interests of the club. The board is elected by club members every year at the Annual General Meeting. Board members are usually parents, adult swimmers or coaches.

As required, the board may call for nominations and form a volunteer sub committee. This sub committee may provide assistance in organising events or fundraising.

The Head Coach is responsible for day-to-day operational decisions, as well as leading aspects of training.
